Then his soul yielded him to kill his brother, thus he killed him, so he became among the losers.
In each delivery, Eve gave birth to twins, one boy, and one girl. The male in the first delivery would marry the female in the second delivery and vice versa. The female born with Qabeel (Cain) was beautiful whereas the female born with Habeel (Abel) was not so. So Qabeel persisted to marry the sister born with him which was against the law prescribed to them. Therefore, to get a resolution they decided to offer a sacrifice. Habeel decided to offer a good goat whereas Qabeel who was a farmer offered some bad and well-mixed corn. The fire from heaven burned the sacrifice of Habeel and thus proved it accepted. Qabeel threatened Habeel with killing him. But Habeel said that Lord accepts only the sacrifice of the heedful as explained in verse 2: 186. But the soul of Qabeel led him to kill his brother, thus he killed him and became one among the losers. Lord taught through Messenger Muhammad that Qabeel who did the first murder would get a part of the punishment for each murder happening in the world. See explanation 3: 183; 4: 85, 93, and 9: 53-55.
